What Is DofE and How To Do It
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive and flexible programme of cultural and adventurous activities for all young people aged between 14 and 25 years old, whatever their background or ability.
In order to achieve the bronze award, you will need to complete the following 4 sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition.

Programme Ideas
The Expedition
The DofE expedition consists of 2 trips:
- 2 days/1 night (Practice)
- 2 days/1 night (Assessment)
For your Expedition section, you will need to plan, train for and complete an unaccompanied, self-reliant expedition with an agreed aim. You must do the correct training for your level and mode of travel, at least one practice expedition, a qualifying expedition (the one that is assessed) and a final presentation in order to complete the section.
Your expedition must be completed by your own physical efforts with minimal external intervention and without motorised assistance. Your route should also be a continuous journey.
In the past expeditions have included walks over the Chiltern hills, and camping at sites local to those areas.
Once you know what kit you need, the DofE Expedition Kit List is the essential checklist when preparing the kit you need. All DofE recommended kit is tried and tested, so you know it’s fit for expedition.

They chose vlogging their adventure as their assignment brief to show the real excitements and struggles of learning something new and being put out of your comfort zone.
