Lights, Camera and Action at Pinewood Studios
Our Sixth Form Media students were thrilled to have the opportunity to visit Pinewood Studios, a hub of creativity and innovation in the film industry. The visit provided them with an immersive experience, allowing them to gain valuable insights into the world of filmmaking.
During their time at the studios, students embarked on an exciting tour, exploring various iconic sets and learning about the intricate processes involved in bringing films to life. One of the highlights of the visit was a fascinating talk on Costume Design by an award-winning studio designer. The designer, who has worked on renowned productions such as Paddington and The Joker, also played a key role in creating Timothée Chalamet’s costume for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Students were captivated by the level of detail and craftsmanship required to design costumes that not only reflect a character’s personality but also enhance the storytelling experience.
In addition to the insightful talk, students had the unique opportunity to explore an enchanting Alice in Wonderland set and step into a jungle studio used for filming scenes in major productions, including The Walking Dead, Lost, and the Jurassic Park franchise.
