The session began with an informative presentation on the range of services that Thames Hospice provides. Students learned about the various types of care offered to patients and their families, highlighting the compassionate support that the hospice delivers to those in need.
Next, the students were introduced to the different career paths available within Thames Hospice. From healthcare professionals to administrative staff and support roles, the visit showcased the diverse career opportunities in the healthcare and charity sectors. The students were encouraged to think about their own future careers and how they could make a difference in the world of healthcare.
The visit also featured a speaker from the fundraising department of Thames Hospice, who shared details about the various fundraising events that take place within the local community to support the hospice’s mission. These events, ranging from charity runs to local auctions, play a vital role in ensuring that the hospice can continue to provide high-quality care.
Finally, students were given the exciting opportunity to brainstorm and create their own fundraising event ideas. This hands-on activity allowed students to put their creativity to work, thinking about how they could contribute to raising awareness and funds for a worthy cause.
Overall, the visit from Thames Hospice provided Year 9 students with valuable knowledge about the impact of hospices, the range of career options available, and the importance of fundraising in supporting vital healthcare services.
