Climate Change Challenge: A Greener Future

All of our Year 10 students were privileged to take part in the Climate Change challenge 2025 led by Equinix and Plus X Innovation. It was an interschool competition designed to inspire students to explore how technology can combat climate change. Seven secondary schools in Slough participated in the challenge specifically designed for Year 10 students which linked to the GCSE curriculum, the working world, climate change, AI and sustainability.

The morning focused on learning about climate change and business innovation. The afternoon session allowed students in their teams to design a technological innovation, that can help learn about or solve a issue associated with climate change. Groups created a wide range of products such as robots that collect plastic in the oceans and biodegradable cups. All groups ‘pitched’ their ideas to the judges and our winners will now compete with the other winners at the final on May 15th.

The winning team’s idea was labelled ‘innovative’, ‘exciting’, ‘well resourced’ and ‘creative’ by the judges. Their innovation focused on an interactive VR experience for schools that allow students to learn and immerse themselves in environments battling climate change to educate themselves on the effects of the global issue.

All students did themselves proud and were incredibly creative. All the teachers were very impressed with the creativity and professionalism of all the students.
