Milestones and Learning Outcomes
In Year 7, students begin exploring careers by identifying their strengths and interests, learning about various career paths, and understanding the importance of setting achievable goals. They also develop key communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal. STEAM is a major focus, with students attending STEAM sessions every other week to spark interest in related careers and build essential problem-solving skills.

Year 8
Milestones and Learning Outcomes

In Year 9, students first identify different career options and current labour market trends in Slough. They will then explore factors influencing career pathways, understand the impact of labour market trends on career planning, and explain key workplace soft skills. Finally, students will analyse career options, labour market data, and the role of soft skills in career success, developing personalised career plans and strategies for skill development.

Year 10
Milestones and Learning Outcomes
In Year 10, students will start by identifying key elements of effective communication, then explore its impact in both personal and professional settings. They will develop and practice communication strategies. Students will also learn about the key elements of a successful interview, explain strategies for preparation, and engage in role-play to develop their interview skills. Additionally, they will identify key leadership qualities, and understand their importance in different contexts.

In Year 11, students will begin by identifying the benefits of apprenticeships and learning about the application process. They will then develop a personalised plan to explore different career pathways. Additionally, students will learn about the key components of a CV, explore strategies for effective CV writing, and refine their own CV. Finally, they will identify key elements of a successful interview, understand strategies for interview preparation, and oractice their interview skills through role-play activities.

Milestones and Learning Outcomes

Additionally, students will explore strategies for navigating the legal system, understanding their legal rights, and how to uphold them in professional settings.
